Self criticism is your safety wall against criticism
This is a reality as broad as daylight,without any dissent made against it that humans err.There is no exception,be it anyone running any stage of life I,e to say that anyone can make mistake.
The early teenage life though is usually considered as a learning phase in one's life and mistakes made are not bothered about.
As one reaches the age of maturity,the normal expectancy level for one not to be making mistakes or doing wrongs goes high.
What is self criticism?
It is a known reality that humans have a built in system of realising the difference between right and wrong,good and evil with the help of their conscience.The conscience is a god gifted touchstone which constantly makes calculations of the actions done and intentions planned by one for actions to be done.
One is constantly to be indulged in worldly matters and taking actions,at times,evil allured by external stimuli like greed for money,fame,social status etc.The built in mechanism of conscience keeps alarming one not to be falling for such evil temptations which is,at times overlooked by humans.
Other humans with strong regard for conscience start making criticism over evil actions or any evil intentions planned by one.
Here comes the need for one to weigh one's deeds and intentions oneself applying the touchstone of conscience.
So what is self criticism?
It is indeed standing all naked in the court dock of one's conscience,to be interrogated uncompromisingly by one's internal good forces and accepting the verdict of having been declared as culprit for one's committed evils.
This is an internal matter to one,what no external entity is made aware of.The important part of what is the secrecy of the whole process of accountability that is made possible by one's own willingness to the same.
Why is self criticism essential?
Self criticism is essential for a number of reasons.
Self accountability is considered a high moral value to be aimed at and passed through by people having greater interest in standing on loftier moral padestal.Self criticism is the required tool to be applied in the process of self assessment.
Apart from this embedded feature in the tool,self criticism does the job of keeping one valued and respectable among others.
Let's understand by an example.
I make a mistake,I realise that but turn a blind eye to it.People start condemning me for the fault.I start reacting negatively and leave no stone unturned in resisting the negative row made against me.
Result is that I start losing respect and regard amongst others,hence start locking myself up into a shell with a tag of narcissism to my name.
Flipping the situation the other way around and I start submitting myself to the court of conscience built in within my own existence.I face the stern questioning made against my evil acts and accept the verdict as it is.
Result is that I start apologising the ones I have made wrong to,hence resume the losing respect and reverence.
Self criticism plays as vitally at individual level as at collective level.Nations with high regard for self accountability have left examples in the history of world by submitting to the process of self criticism.They criticised themselves from within leaving no room for other nations to speak ill of them.
Germany is one of those examples that officially resorted itself to apologise for the wrong done by Adolf Hitler to Jews and payed the compensation to the effected ones.
It was willy brandt,chancellor of west Germany who while on the official visit to Poland joined in the commemoration for Jewish victims of warsaw ghetto.He dropped to his knees spontaneously and later in his autobiography he said he did that to lessen the burden of millions of innocent people who were murdered. Today Germany stands with their head up and chest wide in the brethren of nations.
Is self criticism easy to go through?
Self criticism is as difficult to pass through as is essential.One needs to be honest to unfold oneself for the scrutiny,willing to give up what is earned illegitimately and determined to take a newer start with legitimate means.
