A referendum is held in order to determine if people of catalonia vote to remain part of Spain or get independence.The referendum is held in defiance to the ruling of court that rejects and declares it illegal.
The crisis stiffens as the catalan officials claim 90% "yes to independence"vote in the polled 43%vote.
The Spanish prime minister imposes direct rule over catalonia,dissolving the regional parliament and announces snap local elections on 21 December 2017.

According to country's judicial system,these officials are to be tried against rebellion,sedition and misuse of public funds,the maximum punishment for which is 30 years jail imprisonment.
The deposed leader who happens to be in Belgium at present,carles puigdemont says the trial is"political".
Some of the accused officials are ready to be trialed via video conference.
The crisis continues.

What Uber says is relevant to Pakistan?

US media has picked this issue and the criticism on the company's check process is being made across the whole media including social media. Pakistan a front line country against terrorism is an ideal place to hold such background checks for people applying for driving licences. Anyone with a little know how of driving and a good contact at license issuing authority can get hold of a driving licence hence be eligible to come onto road as licensed driver.In a situation like this,no heed is paid to the applicant's background as to determine his past data of residence,travel and contacts.
